Rhossili Clown Girl

I’m pleased to be able to present the first of my new pieces, Rhossili Clown Girl. It’s painted on heavy watercolour paper with watercolours, ink and acrylic. The small scale of the piece appeals to me, I’ve always like small works and working small, despite going large at times. I think this small format will help me produce a body of works in coming months at a rate that I had not previously been able to maintain with larger canvases, so will be my focus going forward.

I have a raft of image ideas and compositions that I want to bring to life, melding old photographs, real places, theatrical lighting and elements of invention to make ambiguous images. If you’d like to see this piece coming together, there are a number of in progress videos available at my Doing Art video channel.
