Well, as the year winds to an end, I find myself taking stock of what I’ve managed to achieve the last year, which has been my most productive probably since my college days. Once again during October, I took part in Inktober, the yearly drawing challenge based around ink based imagery and set prompts that you can use, abuse or totally ignore. I like using the prompts, so this year I set my mind to managing the whole month just on the prompts.
As it happened, I did 20 straight days, then had to call time on the challenge as life things were getting in the way. That’s fine, it was a goal to do as much as I could, and I managed more than last year’s challenge. It’s fair to say I struggled a bit at times, and due to time restraints did a few pieces that didn’t quite tick my box. But that’s part of the fun!
I had some new pens to play with as well, that added to the challenge. I purchased the Inktober Zig illustration set, which had a few interesting pens that lasted way to short, but this led to a couple of drawings where the line work wasn’t as fine or detailed as I would have liked. It’s all part of the experience though, and a few of the image were really worked well for me, and again have given me ideas for future pieces.
So here they are in all their glory, all 21 pieces were done on A5 Bristol Board, and used various mixed media, all linked to that day’s themes.
